By God's grace we are doing well and enjoying the work He has given us here. We arrived in Togo (actually Ghana) on November 28th after missing our connecting flight in Frankfurt due to snow in Geneva! We were re-routed to London and I couldn't help but think that we were going the wrong way! We finally flew from London to Accra and were happy to back on African soil. As a side note, we did eat fish and chips in London so we think that extra flight was totally worth it.

We arrived in Accra, Ghana at 5:30am and went to claim our baggage. 3 out of 4 suitcases were there to greet us. 75% is not bad considering the change in our flights and even completely changing airlines for the last leg of the trip! We filled out the proper forms and then went out to meet up with our driver, Kofi. Kofi drove us to Tsiko, Togo (about a 7 hour drive that day) where we stayed for 2 weeks. While in Tsiko, Kevin helped with many maintenance needs that they had there due to their full time maintenance man being on furlough. It was great to be reunited with many friends, both missionaries and Togolese, that we served with from Nov. '07 to Nov. '08! By the way, we received our missing luggage one month after arriving in Togo! God knew where it was all along and we are glad that He allowed us to have it!

After our time in Tsiko, we headed up to Mango! It was so good to finally arrive in the place where we will be living and working for the next few years! The next morning we each began learning what our duties are - Kevin at the hospital construction site and me, here at the guest house. One thing's for sure....there is plenty of work to do!

About one month after our arrival in Mango Kevin began having some health difficulties and it quickly became clear that we needed to get him to the hospital in the south (Tsiko). We headed down to HBB (Hopital Baptiste Biblique) on January 9th and he was admitted that evening. He spent 8 days in the hospital and another 6 days recovering there on the compound before we returned to Mango on January 23rd. We praise the Lord for the quality medical care that he received while in Tsiko! We were also reminded of the great need of quality medical care here in the north! As many of you know, we spent 3 months in France before coming to Togo and we are so glad we did! Obviously, 3 months is not enough time to actually learn to speak French but what little we did learn has proved very helpful to us already! It is my desire to find a Togolese language partner who can help me continue learning!

As we have seen what is going on here in Mango we have been so encouraged! There is a missionary couple holding a Sunday morning Bible study in their home with an average attendance of about 30 people! There are also a couple of missionary ladies who are doing one on one discipleship and Bible studies with Muslim ladies. God is opening the hearts of some of the people here in Mango and it is an exciting thing to witness.

Another exciting aspect of the work here is that there are about 30 Togolese workers on the construction site every weekday. We know that 2 of them are Christians. The rest, we believe to be Muslim. Pray that God would use Kevin to show the love of Christ to these men who so desperately need a relationship with the One true God through Jesus Christ. Pray that I would do the same with those I come into contact with! We may not be able to have deep conversations with the folks but we know they are watching us and we also know that actions sometimes speak louder than words! Pray that we would be good examples of Christ followers.

God is working in marvelous ways here in Mango and it is our privilege to be here to see something amazing taking place. We have not come to Mango because missionary work or life here is easy. We came because He called us. The same God who called us to this place will sustain us and for that we are thankful! We are also thankful for people like you who pray for us!
